The Decision That Changes Everything: Why Clarity Comes From Taking Action

Recently, I returned from a family trip to the Southwest of the United States. We were celebrating my father’s significant birthday, so the whole family traveled together through the Grand Canyon, Route 66, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Las Vegas, and the surrounding areas.

Of course, seeing those incredible places was wonderful. But for me, the real highlight was watching my parents experience them.

My parents didn't have the same opportunities to travel that my brother and I have had. It was simply a different generation.

So seeing them take in these landscapes and experience the beauty of travel was incredibly meaningful to me.

And then something happened that reminded me exactly why I fell in love with transformational travel in the first place.

“It Feels Like We’re in a Movie”

At the end of the trip, we decided to give my parents a beautiful hotel room with a view of the fountains in Las Vegas.

They stood there quietly, looking out at the view, almost unable to believe what they were seeing.

My mom said, “It feels like we are in a movie. I feel like this is a movie. Or this is a dream.”

I knew exactly what she meant.

Because I had experienced that feeling myself.

When I was in my twenties, I traveled to London for the first time. I had traveled internationally before, particularly around Europe, but this trip felt different. Maybe it was the culture shock. Everything felt so different from what I knew.

I remember thinking, almost suddenly, I feel like I’m in a movie.

And there was something much deeper behind that feeling.

I've always loved cinema. I’ve watched countless movies. But for the first time, I wasn't just watching a movie.

I was the protagonist in my own movie.

I was actually living it.

That was an awakening for me. I felt incredibly alive. It was like a new area of my life had opened up, giving me a completely new perspective and showing me possibilities I hadn't known existed.

That experience awakened me to transformational travel.

Travel Is About More Than Changing Your Location

This is what fascinates me so much about travel.

Travel isn't only about physically moving somewhere else. It isn't just about the food, the beautiful landscapes, having fun, or disconnecting from everyday life—all of those things can be wonderful.

But transformational travel goes deeper.

It's about the personal growth that can happen when we travel. It's about how our eyes and minds open. It's about seeing possibilities differently and discovering something about ourselves that we may not have seen before.

Maybe you've experienced something similar.

Maybe you've traveled somewhere and returned seeing yourself, your life, or the world differently.

And once you've experienced that kind of transformation, you often want more of it.

You realize how much there is to discover.

The world is huge, and travel doesn't have to be about ticking boxes or trying to visit as many places as possible. Sometimes, it's about going deeper into the places you do visit.

It's about having conversations with local people, connecting with strangers, meeting other travelers, or simply spending an entire day exploring a small place.

I think about it like visiting a museum. You could rush through every room, take a few pictures, and leave. Or you could choose a few rooms that genuinely interest you and spend time there.

You go deeper.

That is where some of the real experience happens.

When Your Passion for Transformational Travel Becomes a Business

If you've experienced this kind of transformation yourself, you may naturally want to share it with others.

When we see a beautiful landscape or an incredible sunset, our instinct is often to say, “Look at this!”

We want other people to experience what we're experiencing.

Maybe that's why you're drawn to transformational travel.

You want to help other people experience the possibilities you've discovered through travel. You want to create meaningful experiences for your clients. And perhaps you also want to build a business that gives you the freedom to travel and work from anywhere in the world.

That passion is incredibly important.

But I've learned through more than five years of working in transformational travel, and through my own experience as a travel coach, that passion alone isn't enough to build the business you want.

You also need clarity.

You need confidence.

You need a methodology, a step-by-step plan, and guidance from someone who has walked the path before you.

And there are two important foundations to building a transformational travel business.

The Two Pillars of a Transformational Travel Business

1. Be Clear About Your Offer

First, you need to know what you're offering.

What is your signature offer?

Who is it for?

Who is the person you serve?

And how does your experience, coaching package, trip, retreat, or other offer help that person create a transformation?

You need to understand the transformation you're helping your clients experience and how your offer supports them through it.

This is the foundation.

2. Learn How to Sell It

But having a great offer isn't enough if nobody knows about it.

You also need to learn how to market and sell your offer. You need to know how to attract clients and fill your trips, retreats, courses, or other experiences.

Because without clients, you don't have a business.

You need both pillars: how to create an offer that delivers a meaningful transformation and how to market, promote, and sell that offer.

Stop Waiting for Clarity

One of the biggest obstacles I see among travel professionals—and people who want to become transformational travel professionals—is waiting.

We wait until we have clarity.

We wait until we feel confident.

We wait until we know exactly what we're going to offer, who our niche is, how we're going to market ourselves, and who is going to help us build the right connections.

Of course, those things matter.

But here's what I've learned:

Clarity doesn't come from sitting at your desk and thinking about it forever. Clarity comes as you move forward.

You have to make the decision first.

Once you decide that you're going to do it, you start seeing the opportunities, the support, the people, and the steps you need to take.

It doesn't usually happen the other way around.

Think about driving to a destination.

You don't sit at home waiting to see every single road sign before you leave. You start the car and drive.

As you move forward, you see the next exit.

Then you see where you need to turn.

Then you discover the next part of the road.

But if you're waiting at home until you can see the entire journey, you'll be waiting forever.

Confidence Comes From Doing

The same thing applies to confidence.

You might think:

“This feels too big for me.”

“I don't feel like an entrepreneur.”

“I don't feel like a coach.”

“I'm not confident enough to guide my clients through this.”

So you wait until you feel confident before you begin.

But if you wait until you feel confident, you may be waiting forever.

Confidence comes from doing.

It's through taking action that you begin to develop the identity of the person you want to become.

Going back to the driving metaphor: if you're sitting at home imagining yourself driving, you're not a driver yet.

It's by getting in the car and driving that you begin to feel, I'm doing this. I'm a driver.

The same is true for building your business.

It's by doing the work that you begin to feel like an entrepreneur. It's by working with clients that you begin to see yourself as someone who helps people experience transformation through travel.

You don't have to feel completely ready first.

You have to start moving.

Make the Decision and Let the Path Unfold

This is why I wanted to share this story with you.

If transformational travel is something you feel called to explore, stop waiting for everything to become perfectly clear.

Make the decision first.

Once you make that decision with determination, your focus changes. You start noticing opportunities you may have overlooked before. You start seeing the people who can support you. You start discovering the how.

You learn by doing.

You can learn how transformational travel works by engaging with the right mentoring community, working with your own clients, and creating your own experiences.

But if you continue waiting for clarity or confidence before you begin, you could find yourself in exactly the same place one, two, five, or even ten years from now.

Your passion for transformational travel may already be there.

Now it's about deciding what you're going to do with it.

That decision is where the journey begins.
